Service Adjustments

This page lists Halifax Transit service adjustments, including adjustments related to permanent stop relocations and consolidations, scheduling adjustments, and the May 20, 2024, service changes.

These service adjustments have been broken down into the following categories:

Service Changes - Effective May 20, 2024

As of May 20, 2024, Scotia Square Terminal will be closing to accommodate the construction and street closures for the next phase of the Cogswell District Project.

This closure requires the long-term relocation of the four bays located at Scotia Square Terminal. 

The impacted bays will be relocated as follows:

• Stop Barrington St After Duke St Bay 1 (6087) will be relocated to Granville St and will be renamed Stop Granville St Before Duke St Bay 1 (6087). Routes that will service this stop include: 1, 7B, 8, 9A, 9B, 10, 93, 123, 127, 135, 136, 137, 138, 158, 159, 161, 165, 168A, 168B, 182, 183, 185, 186, 194, and 196.
• Stop Barrington St Before Duke St Bay 2 (6107) will be relocated further down Barrington St, in the direction of George St, and will be renamed Stop Barrington St Before George St Bay 2 (6107). Routes that will service this stop include: 1, 2, 7A, 8, 9A, 9B, 10, 29, and 93.
• Stop Barrington St At Scotia Square Bay 3 (6108) will be relocated to Albemarle St and will be renamed Stop Albemarle St Before Duke St Bay 3 (6108). Routes that will service this stop include: 5 and 84.
• Stop Barrington St After Cogswell St Bay 4 (6105) will be relocated further down Barrington St, in the direction of Prince St, and will be renamed Stop Barrington St Before Prince St Bay (6105). Routes that will service this stop include: 123, 127, 135, 136, 137, 138, 158, 159, 161, 165, 168A, 168B, 182, 183, 185, 186, 194, and 196.

*As of May 20, 2024, Routes 2 Outbound and 29 Outbound will only service Water St Terminal.

**Please note: Regional Express Routes (320, 330, 370) will continue to service Stop Duke St Before Albemarle St (9061) after May 20, 2024.

The following map shows the long-term, relocated locations of Scotia Square Terminal Bays 1, 2, 3, and 4 effective May 20, 2024.

Service Reductions in Effect Until Further Notice 

Beginning Monday, February 27, 2023, Halifax Transit temporarily suspended service on three bus routes, and made schedule adjustments to 32 routes.

Effective November 20, 2024, Halifax Transit increased service due to progress made in improving staffing levels. Approximately one-quarter of the previously reduced service was reinstated. Specifically, a total of 26 routes had 55 trips reinstated, with 12 of these routes returning to full service. The following routes had trips reinstated:

Ferry and Access-A-Bus services are not impacted by these service reductions and are expected to continue as scheduled.
