Snow Removal for Seniors and Persons with Disabilities

The snow removal program is available to seniors (65 years of age or older) and persons with disabilities in HRM. The program applies to residential properties only - commercial properties are ineligible.  You must reside in a single dwelling home that you own or rent. The total gross household income of all people living on the premises must not exceed $30,000.

The program offers assistance to clear snow from steps, walkways and sidewalks. This includes: front and back steps, walkways, access to fuel tanks.  In the former city of Halifax, this includes: abutting sidewalks where snow removal is the responsibility of the homeowner.

To find out more about this program, please call:   864-2165 or 1-902-558-1049 (toll-free in HRM).

Service Dog Exercise Facility

Service Dogs of HRM have a place to safely exercise in a unique, accessible off-leash dog run at the corner of Rainnie Drive and Cogswell Street, adjacent to Centennial Pool.  This resource offers a centrally-located, fenced area where service dogs can safely be off-leash and still remain close to their handlers.
