Update on RP+5 Public Consultations
Seven meetings and a kick off event attended by over 500 citizens in person, and by another 61 online during live-streamed events, were recently held in various HRM communities to discuss what has changed since the 2006 Regional Plan was adopted and how key policies need to address current challenges and future opportunities.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in the RP+5 process so far, and we hope that you continue to stay engaged. If you didn't have a chance to participate in-person, or would like to provide additional feedback, you can continue to provide written comments to planhrm@halifax.ca

Dunbrack Street Road Construction
Attention motorists, on or about Monday, April 9th road work on Dunbrack St. from Wentworth Dr. to Lacewood Dr. will require lane reductions.
This work will continue throughout the spring and summer months. The hours of work will be 7AM-6PM with evening and weekends as required.
This work, being undertaken by Dexter Construction on behalf of Halifax Water, is to allow for the excavation of access pits in the road for Phase Two of the Dunbrack St. Water Main Sliplining Project, along with asphalt and curb replacement.
Two lane, two way traffic flow will be maintained at all times. There will be no loss of municipal services. Sidewalk access will be maintained.
Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to ensure smooth traffic flow. On site personnel will also maintain communication with local residents and businesses to help minimize disruption. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes where possible and to proceed carefully through the work zone. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure improvement work may cause.

HRM Expands Blue Bag Recycling
HRM would like to advise residents that its blue bag program is expanding to include all plastics.
Effective September 1st, HRM residents will be able to place all plastic containers in the blue bag. This means all yogurt, margarine, and ice cream containers, ketchup, beverage containers and detergent bottles can go in the blue bag for recycling - no more looking for codes on the bottom. Just make sure they are clean, empty and to put all the caps in the garbage. Styrofoam also goes in the garbage.
Solid Waste Resources also recently created a video, which tours HRM’s recycling and compost facilities. Please visit our ‘Recycling, Composting and Garbage’ Playlist on YouTube: www.youtube.com/HRMNovaScotia.
For more details on the enhanced program and “What Goes Where”, visit www.halifax.ca/recycle or call 490-4000.
