There are many things you can do in your home to benefit the environment.
Some important actions include:
Place newspaper and other paper in a separate grocery bag, separate from your blue bag items. Why? Our recycling plant is set up with two sorting lines, one for Paper and Corrugated Cardboard and one for blue bag items.
Recycling paper reduces air pollution and saves landfill space. Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to power a computer for two hours. Remember to put all your aluminum in your blue bag for recycling.
Try to purchase non-toxic alternatives to harsh chemicals for your cleaning needs, use up all of the product and don’t purchase more than what is actually needed. Don't pour unused household chemicals down the drain or into your toilets.
Protect lakes and rivers from bacteria and nutrients - dispose of pet waste properly by bagging and placing in the trash. Don’t feed ducks or pigeons near the water or at beaches. Their waste contaminates the water.
