HRM’s Overnight Winter Parking Ban In
Effect
Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 – HRM is advising residents that the overnight winter parking ban will be in effect starting tonight from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. and will remain in effect until further notice. Tonight's forecast calls for rain changing to freezing rain, then snow around midnight - up to six centimentres by morning. This includes an advisory for flash freezing with rapid temperature drop.
The weather and snow clearing
operations will dictate how long the overnight ban will remain in effect. HRM
will notify residents when it has been lifted through Public Service
Announcements, halifax.ca, 490-4000 and you can follow us on Twitter
“@hfxgov”.
Provincial legislation (Section 139 of the Motor Vehicle Act) provides that
people remove their vehicles from the streets, day or night, in the event of a
snow or ice event. Vehicles obstructing snow removal or winter maintenance
operations can be removed at the owner’s cost,
regardless of time or date.
HRM requests that residents
remove any street obstructions whenever possible during snow clearing
operations. Items such as basketball nets and organic green carts hinder proper
snow clearing and can result in damage to property and equipment.
HRM
thanks you for your cooperation.
