Hundreds of trees to be planted in downtown Halifax
for Earth Day
Friday, April 20, 2012 - In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, HRM is
teaming up with The Awesome Foundation to take on the challenge of planting 200
new trees in downtown Halifax.
Hannah Stuart and her father John Stuart of Blackwatch Farms in the
Gaspereau Valley were the winners of The Awesome Foundation’s $1000 April grant
for their “Planting Awesome” idea. The father and daughter team will join The
Awesome Foundation and HRM’s urban foresters on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22 to
line the Barrington Street Multi-use Trail with 200 beautiful new trees.
