Application by Bragg Communications Inc. (Eastlink) to construct a new 76.5 metre self-supporting tower and associated equipment cabinets on a portion of lands known as PID
00597989, located at Crowell Road just past Little Lake, East Lawrencetown.
Proposal - Information Sheet
The lands are designated Lawrencetown under the Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) and zoned RR-1 (Rural Residential) under the Land Use Bylaw (LUB) for the Lawrencetown Plan Area. The applicant proposes to construct a 76.5 metre self-supporting telecommunication tower and 1-3 associated equipment cabinets on a leased portion of the lands. The proposed tower will be set back 413 metres from Crowell Road and will be accessed from Crowell Road.
The base of the tower and equipment will be enclosed with steel wire fencing (see Compound Layout Plan below) and the tower will be equipped with anti-climb apparatus. The tower will be steel lattice construction (see Proposed Tower Elevation below) and site specific engineered. Transport Canada does not require painting and lighting of the tower for this location.

Status
A public information meeting was held on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the Lawrencetown Community Centre, Lawrencetown regarding a proposal for a telecommunication tower at 185 Leslie Road, East Lawrencetown.
The staff report with a recommendation regarding the proposed telecommunication tower at 185 Leslie Road was tabled at the regular meeting of Marine Drive, Valley and Canal Community Council (MDVCCC) on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. MDVCCC passed a motion to approve the staff recommendation to forward a negative recommendation to Industry Canada in relation to this proposal.
Following the approval of the staff report at MDVCCC on June 22, 2011, Eastlink and HRM decided to continue discussions in order to consider alternative sites in the East Lawrencetown area.
A Public Information Meeting was held November 17, 2011 at the Lawrencetown Community Centre to discuss the revised application for the Crowell Road site.

The applicant has submitted plans and studies required by HRM staff to properly evaluate the application. All documents are available for viewing at the Planning Services office in Dartmouth.
