Help HRM Celebrate "Car Free" Day
on
Thursday, April 25th
Halifax Regional Municipality and thousands of other communities around the world will be celebrating the Second Earth
"Car Free" Day this coming Thursday to help create greater awareness of the need to protect our environment.
Residents of HRM are being encouraged to leave their vehicles at home on April 25th and choose another mode of
transportation to get around that day, such as walking, cycling, using public transit, or arrange to car pool.
If you plan to use Metro Transit services that day:
- Transit fares will be reduced to $1 during off-peak hours ( 9 a.m.- 3:30 p.m., after 6 p.m.)
Halifax Regional Council has issued an official challenge to other major centres in the Atlantic Provinces to urge their residents to participate in "Car Free" Day. The community
with the greatest number of participants wins.
Join in the fun and plan to participate in "Car Free" Day. Help make HRM a winner!
