Camp Games | Penny Drop

Camp Games | Penny Drop

Penny Drop

Group Size: 1+ people

Goal: The goal is to make it from start to finish holding a penny between your knees and drop it into the bottle at the finish line

Set up:

  • Make a starting and a finish line (this could be from one side of the room to the other, or marked off outside)
  • Place the bottle at the finish line
  • Have a penny (or any other small object) to place between your knees

How to Play:

  • The first person will start at the starting line and waddle to the finish line with the penny between their knees trying not to drop it
  • Once they reach the finish line they need to drop the penny into the bottle in order to get a point. (If playing with small children you may want to use a cup with a larger rim so it isn’t as difficult)
  • If the first person drops the penny on their way to the bottle, or does not get it in the next person in line will try.
  • Goal: the winner is the first person to get to three points, or if you are playing by yourself you can see how many tries it takes you to get a certain number in.
Camp Games | Blindfolded Treasure Hunt

Camp Games | Blindfolded Treasure Hunt

Blindfolded Treasure Hunt

Group Size: 2+ people

Goal: The goal of the game is to have one person blindfolded starting at one side of the room make it to a hidden treasure using only the directions from the others.

Set up:

  • Blindfold the person who will be taking direction “the treasure hunter”
  • Have the others hide a treasure (special toy, treat, etc) without the person who is blindfolded knowing
  • Remove any sharp or dangerous objects that the person who is blindfolded may bump into, trip over or hurt their self on

How to Play:

  • The direction givers are to give directions to the treasure hunter in order to successfully guide them to the treasure
  • To make it more difficult obstacles can be placed between the treasure hunter and the object after they are blindfolded
  • Once the treasure hunter makes it to the treasure, switch up the roles and try again!
  • To make it sillier you can make rules such as the direction givers can only give direction through singing or a silly voice, or the treasure hunter needs to do a silly dance as they make their way to the treasure!  Have fun!

  • Inside those large circles draw six smaller circles, all different colours.

How to Play:

  • The first player jumps, hops, or steps onto the small circles; creating a sequence.
  • The second player repeats this same sequence
  • After each turn the pattern increases by one until the opposing player can no longer remember the pattern.

Then players switch and play again.

Camp Games | Grid Maze

Grid Maze

Group Size: 2+ people

Goal: Find your way through the grid maze in the right order without stepping on the wrong squares. If you step in the wrong spot, head back to the start and try again!

Set Up:

  • Start by creating a large 5x5 grid using chalk, tape or on paper; this is the maze. Label one square as the start.
  •  On a separate sheet of paper draw the same 5x5 grid; this will be your answer key. On the answer key, draw a path from one side of the grid to the other. Depending on who is playing, you can create an “easy, medium or hard” path based on the length and directions of your path.  Only one person should know the correct path.

How to Play:

  • Player will start at the designated starting square and can step onto the next square in any direction of their choosing.
  • If the player chooses the correct square, they continue through the maze by choosing another square.
  • If the player chooses the wrong square they go back to the start and the next family member can try using the same path.
  • Continue this pattern until all players have made it through the maze correctly.
  • If you would like to try again, let another person create the maze and be the Grid Director.
