The St. Mary's Boat Club is situated on the North-West Arm and was originally constructed in 1905. It was initially used by the St. Mary's Young Men's Temperance & Benevolent Society. In 1919, it was established as the St. Mary's Boat Club (SMBC). After undergoing extensive renovations, it was reopened by the City of Halifax in 1991. The SMBC is currently owned and operated by Halifax Regional Municipality and operates year-round, offering recreational canoe, kayak, and stand-up paddleboard programs. Additionally, the SMBC's main hall is available for rent for weddings, special events, and meetings.
