Watershed Management survey and Steering Committee

The Halifax Regional Municipality is working to develop watershed management plans for the Nine Mile River and Dartmouth Lakes watersheds. These plans will set goals and priorities for each watershed and lay out a plan for how to meet these goals.

Examples of goals set out in a watershed management plan include:

  • maintaining or improving water quality
  • managing invasive species
  • improving wildlife habitat
  • improving how stormwater is managed

Steering Committees

To support this work, the municipality sought applicants who live or work in these watersheds to participate in Steering Committees to develop watershed management plans.

Recruitment for these steering committees is now closed. There will be more opportunities for engagement as this work progresses.
