There are two opportunities to sign up as a speaker for in-person Public Participation:
Option 1: Register in advance
Zoom is available as an option for pre-registered speakers only.
Contact the Municipal Clerk's Office no later than 4:30 p.m. on August 23, 2024:
- Send an email to viningk@halifax.ca If you’re signing up via email and you don’t receive a response from us within one business day, phone our office at 902.490.4210 to confirm receipt. Please ensure you check your email’s junk/spam folder regularly.

In your message, state that you wish to speak during Public Participation at the August 26, 2024 Executive Standing Committee meeting, and give your name and community of residence, and whether you wish to speak in person or speak using Zoom.
Option 2: During the meeting
During the meeting, after all the pre-registered speakers have been called, the Chair will call three times to ask if there is anyone else present who would like to speak. If you are present in the meeting room you can indicate your wish to speak at that time.
PLEASE NOTE: All Standing Committee meetings will be audio and/or video recorded for the purpose of creating a record of the proceedings. If you do not wish to be recorded, do not sign up to speak; you can provide a written submission via clerks@halifax.ca.

13.1.1 Women's Advisory Committee - Change to TOR [PDF]
Motion:
That the Executive Standing Committee recommend that Halifax Regional Council:
1. Change the name of the Women’s Advisory Committee - Halifax to The Women and Gender Equity Advisory Committee; and
2. Amend the Terms of Reference of the Women’s Advisory Committee – Halifax to replace the word women with women and gender diverse community members or women/gender diverse community members where appropriate. Where the word woman is used, replace it with woman/gender diverse community member.
13.2 WOMEN’S ADVISORY COMMITTEE
13.2.1 Revisions to the Women’s Advisory Committee Approved 2024 Work Plan [PDF]
Motion:
That the Executive Standing Committee review and approve the Women’s Advisory Committee Revised 2024 Work Plan as outlined in Attachment 2 of the report dated July 4, 2024.

Council may rise and go into a private In Camera session, in accordance with Section 19 of the Halifax Regional Municipality Charter, for the purpose of dealing with the following:

Motion:
That the In Camera (In Private) minutes of June 17, 2024 be approved as circulated.
15.2 PERSONNEL MATTER – Private and Confidential Report
A matter pertaining to an identifiable individual or group.
Motion:
That the Executive Standing Committee:
1. Adopt the recommendations outlined in the private and confidential report dated August 21, 2024; and
2. Direct that the private and confidential report dated August 21, 2024 be maintained private and confidential.
15.3 INTERGOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS - Private and Confidential Report
A matter pertaining to any subject, the discussion of which could, violate the confidentiality of information obtained from another body of government, or a public body.
Motion:
That the Executive Standing Committee convene to in camera to discuss the matter.
