Update: On September 1, at approximately 1230 p.m., the barricaded man exited the residence on his own accord and was taken into custody.
The 29-year-old man is being held in custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial court on Tuesday to face charges of assault, uttering threats and breach of probation in relation to a previous incident.
Victoria road is now open to all traffic.

On August 31, 2019, at 9:15 p.m., Halifax Regional Police officers attended a residence in the 200 block of Victoria Road in Dartmouth in an attempt to arrest a man in relation to a previous incident. While officers were on scene, the man grabbed a knife and stated he would not surrender to police.
Officers have been negotiating with the man throughout the night and continue to do so at this time.
Victoria Road between Woodland Avenue and Vanessa Drive remains blocked to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic while this incident is unfolding.
