Emergency services investigate another earthquake GO#20-29297

UPDATE: Regarding the earlier release on the second earthquake felt in Dartmouth, Earthquakes Canada has documented the event as a magnitude 2.6 aftershock.

On March 3 at approximately 12:42 a.m., Halifax Regional Municipality Integrated Emergency Services began receiving multiple calls from citizens throughout Dartmouth east reporting their homes shaking and hearing sounds similar to explosions. Halifax Regional Police and Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency Services responded to the impacted areas to check for potential damage or hazards.

Like the previous evening, this event appeared to primarily impact the neighbourhoods of Westphal and Montebello. At the time of this release there have been no reports of injuries or damage to property. 

Halifax Regional Police is waiting for details from Earthquakes Canada staff with Natural Resources Canada to confirm details of the event. Preliminary information posted via the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre describes the event as an earthquake occurring at a depth of 5km and registering 2.0 in magnitude on the Richter Scale.
