Today, Halifax Regional Police (HRP) is launching a recruitment campaign for its 2023 cadet class, which follows on the success of the last two HRP Police Science Program classes. The next HRP Police Science Program is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2022. Applications open May 1, 2022 and close on June 19, 2022.
“Once again, we are looking to engage and recruit candidates who represent the diversity of our community, who are service-oriented, compassionate and want to make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve,” said Halifax Regional Police Chief Dan Kinsella.
“There continues to be a lot of discussions, locally and globally, surrounding policing and resourcing,” said Chief Kinsella. “These discussions underpin the importance of trust, accountability and diversity. We look forward to training and preparing the next generation of police officers who will bring a variety of life experiences and perspectives that will help us move policing forward.”
The program will be based at the Halifax Regional Police Training School in Dartmouth, which is a recognized private career college by the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education. Successful applicants will become cadets in a 38-week police training program designed and delivered by HRP. Upon successful completion of the training program, cadets may have the opportunity to work with HRP.
HRP recruitment ambassadors and team members will be available to provide information in a variety of ways - through in-person and virtual information sessions, via email as well as through social media engagement. Members of the public can also follow information related to recruiting at @JoinHRP on Twitter and on Instagram.
