At 8:55 p.m. on April 28, police responded to the intersection of North and Agricola Streets in Halifax to a report of a hit and run. A vehicle rear ended another vehicle causing minor damages. The sole occupant of the struck vehicle was not injured. The suspect vehicle immediately fled the scene heading westbound along North Street. Witnesses believed the driver was impaired. Police were provided with a license plate and vehicle description. The vehicle was observed taking the Dunbrack exit from Highway 102.

At 9:07 p.m. the vehicle was observed by police in the 400 block of Herring Cove Road. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver taken into custody without incident. 

A 27-year-old man is being held in police custody facing the following charges: Prohibited driving, failing to remain at a scene, three counts of breaching a recognizance, resist arrest, impaired operation and refusal to comply with a demand for testing.  He will appear in Halifax Provincial Court later today.
