Halifax Regional Police arrested a man in connection with two assaults that occurred yesterday afternoon in Halifax.

On July 18 just before 4 p.m., police responded to an assault call at a gas station in the 6000 block of Quinpool Road. A man entered the gas station and started yelling threats at the employees. He then grabbed a 31-year old female employee by the throat and assaulted her, and when a 23-year-old male employee tried to intervene, the man assaulted him as well. Both employees attended the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses advised that the suspect was walking on North Street towards Dublin Street and officers quickly located the man. At 4:10 p.m., 52-year-old James B. Tweedale was arrested without incident. He is to appear in Halifax court today to face two counts of assault, two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and one count of overcoming resistance to commission of offence (choking).
