Municipal programs and services on Easter long weekend

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of the following municipal program and service level adjustments over the upcoming Easter long weekend:

Solid Waste Collection and Facility Hours

No municipal solid waste collection services will take place on Good Friday, April 19. Curbside collection of garbage, organics or recyclables normally scheduled for Friday, April 19, will occur instead the next day, Saturday, April 20. Residents are reminded that collection services can begin as early as 7 a.m.; to ensure pick-up, residents may place materials curbside the evening prior to collection day.

Regular curbside collection services will occur on Easter Monday, April 22.

The Otter Lake Waste Management Facility, the municipal recycling plant and municipal composting facilities will be closed on Good Friday, April 19 and Easter Sunday, April 21, but will be open for regular operating hours on Saturday, April 20 and Easter Monday, April 22.

The Household Special Waste Depot in Bayers Lake will be closed on Saturday, April 20, and will re-open for regular operating hours on Saturday, April 27.

Halifax Transit Bus and Ferry Services

Halifax Transit buses will be operating on holiday service on Good Friday, April 19, as well as Easter Sunday, April 21. Please note there will be no ferry service in operation on Good Friday, however, holiday ferry service will be provided on Easter Sunday.

Recreation Facilities, Programs and Services

Many municipally-operated recreation facilities will be closed on Good Friday, April 19, Easter Sunday, April 21, and Easter Monday, April 22. Residents are advised to call ahead to their individual facility for operating hours and program information. 

Parking

On-street parking meter spaces are free on Good Friday, April 19 and Easter Monday, April 22, however motorists are reminded to abide by other posted signage.

Customer Contact Centres

The 311 Contact Centre will be operating on regular hours, Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22 (from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21 (from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.)

The five Customer Service Centres that provide in-person access to municipal services and payments will be closed on Good Friday, April 19, and Easter Monday, April 22, re-opening for regular business hours on Tuesday, April 23.

La Municipalité régionale d’Halifax avise les résidents des ajustements suivants des niveaux de programme et de service municipaux qui suivent au cours de la longue fin de semaine de Pâques :

Heures de collecte des déchets solides et heures d’ouverture des installations

Aucun service municipal de collecte des déchets solides n’aura lieu le Vendredi saint (19 avril). La collecte des ordures, des matières organiques et des matières recyclages en bordure de la rue qui est prévue normalement le vendredi 19 avril aura plutôt lieu le lendemain (le samedi 20 avril). On rappelle aux résidents que les services de collecte peuvent commencer dès 7 h. Pour garantir la collecte, les résidents peuvent placer les matières en bordure de la rue le soir précédant la journée de la collecte.

Les services de collecte normaux en bordure de la rue auront lieu le lundi de Pâques (22 avril).

L’installation de gestion des déchets d’Otter Lake, l’installation de recyclage municipale et les installations de compostage municipales seront fermées le Vendredi saint (19 avril) et le dimanche de Pâques (21 avril), mais seront ouvertes pendant les heures d’ouverture normales le samedi 20 avril et le lundi de Pâques (22 avril).

Le site de cueillette des déchets ménagers spéciaux situé à Bayers Lake sera fermé le samedi 20 avril et sera rouvert pendant les heures d’ouverture normales le samedi 27 avril.

Services d’autobus et de traversier d’Halifax Transit

Les autobus d’Halifax Transit seront en activité selon l’horaire de jour férié le Vendredi saint (19 avril) ainsi que le dimanche de Pâques (21 avril). Veuillez noter que le service de traversier ne sera pas en activité le Vendredi saint. Le service de traversier sera toutefois offert le dimanche de Pâques selon l’horaire de jour férié. 

Installations, programmes et services de loisirs

Bon nombre d’installations de loisirs exploitées par la municipalité seront fermées le Vendredi saint (19 avril), le dimanche de Pâques (21 avril) et le lundi de Pâques (22 avril). On demande aux résidents d’appeler leur installation à l’avance pour connaître leurs heures d’ouverture et obtenir des renseignements sur les programmes. 

Stationnement

Les places de stationnement avec parcomètre sur la rue sont gratuites le Vendredi saint (19 avril) et le lundi de Pâques (22 avril). On demande toutefois aux automobilistes de respecter les autres affiches existantes.

Centres de contact avec la clientèle

Le centre de contact 311 sera ouvert pendant les heures normales le vendredi 19 avril et le lundi 22 avril (de 8 h à 22 h) et le samedi 20 avril et le dimanche 21 avril (de 9 h à 17 h 30).

Les cinq centres de service à la clientèle qui offrent un accès en personne aux services et aux paiements municipaux seront fermés le Vendredi saint (19 avril) et le lundi de Pâques (22 avril). Ils seront rouverts pendant les heures d’ouverture normales le mardi 23 avril.
