To minimize potential damage to municipal streets and roads, the Halifax Regional Municipality will introduce its annual spring weight restrictions, beginning at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021.
These restrictions are for heavy vehicles travelling on municipally maintained roads. Regular weight tolerances apply on exempt roads.
The weight restrictions are expected to remain in place into the spring, at which time the municipality will issue a PSA advising that the restrictions are lifted.
The municipality’s spring weight restrictions are consistent with those of the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (NSTIR). Details of vehicle restrictions can be found online at http://novascotia.ca/tran/trucking/springweight.asp.

Afin de réduire au minimum les dommages potentiels aux rues et aux routes municipales, la Municipalité régionale d’Halifax instaurera ses limites annuelles de charge au printemps à compter de 23 h 59 le dimanche 28 février, 2021.
Ces limites s’appliquent aux véhicules lourds qui voyagent sur les routes entretenues par la municipalité. Les tolérances de poids régulières s’appliquent sur les routes exclues.
Les limites de charge sont prévues rester en place pendant le printemps. Lorsque le moment sera venu, la municipalité émettra un message d’intérêt public indiquant que les restrictions sont levées.
Les limites de charge au printemps de la municipalité sont conformes à celles du ministère des Transports et du Renouvellement de l’infrastructure de la Nouvelle-Écosse.
