Halifax Regional Police is investigating a motor vehicle collision that occurred overnight in Halifax.

At 1:50 a.m. on July 20, police responded to the 3500 block of Connolly Street in Halifax to a report of a two vehicle collision. One vehicle was described as being on fire. Officers arrived on scene within minutes and discovered a vehicle that had travelled northbound on Connolly Street and struck an unoccupied parked car.  Both vehicles sustained extensive damage. The vehicle operated by a 19-year-old man briefly caught fire. A Nova Scotia Power pole and tree were also damaged. The 19-year-old driver was the sole occupant of his vehicle. He was arrested at the scene for impaired driving. He was also treated and released at the scene by EHS.

The driver remains in police custody while the investigation continues.
