Police arrest two men in robbery 

Halifax Regional Police arrested two men in connection with a robbery that occurred Monday night in Dartmouth.

At approximately 11 p.m. on October 16, police responded to a robbery not in progress at an apartment on Primrose Street. The man advised that approximately half an hour earlier, he heard a knock at the door. When he answered, a group of men forced their way in and he was assaulted by two of them. The victim recognized one of the men. The men left taking some of the victim’s belongings. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.  

At 9:26 a.m. on October 17, police arrested one of the suspects on Jackson Road in Dartmouth without incident. At 1:56 a.m., police arrested a second suspect at a residence on Primrose Street without incident. Both men were transported to police headquarters where they were held in custody.    

Police have charged 41-year-old Michael Douglas MacDonald and 26-year-old Murray Robert Timmons, both of Dartmouth, with one count each of robbery and aggravated assault. Timmons has also been charged with one count of breach of probation and breach of a recognizance. They were scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court yesterday.
