Investigators in the General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Division have charged an employee of Frank Magazine with breach of a publication ban.

A publication ban was issued at the outset of the July 11, 2016 preliminary inquiry into the Catherine Campbell homicide. On July 11, Frank Magazine published an online article that included information that was subject to the publication ban. The same article was published in the print edition of the magazine, which appeared on newsstands on July 13.

Police launched an investigation into this breach on July 13. On July 26 at 5:40 p.m., investigators attended a residence in Halifax to notify the employee that he was being charged for breaching a publication ban. He was cautioned and given a notice to appear in court.

A 39-year-old Halifax man is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face a charge of failure to comply with an order directing matters not to be published for a specified period under section 539 of the Criminal Code.
