Police have charged a Dartmouth man for robbery as well as two other incident that occurred in Dartmouth last month.
On March 29 at approximately 1:15 p.m. police received a report of a vehicle that had been taken from a residence in Dartmouth by a man who was known to the owner. Police were unable to locate the vehicle or the man at that time.
Later that night police received a report from the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility for the same man who had failed to attend for his court ordered intermittent sentence.
On March 30 at approximately 1:45 p.m. police received a report of a robbery that had occurred at a residence in the 200 block of Victoria Road in Dartmouth. A man was assaulted as he entered his residence by another man who was known to him. The suspect demanded money and then fled the area. The suspect was identified as the same man from the two previous incidents. Police were unable to locate the suspect at that time.
On April 4 the suspect was arrested without incident at approximately 11:45 p.m. in the 0-100 block of Highfield Park Drive in Dartmouth.
Thirty-eight-year-old Jeffrey Clair Brightman of Dartmouth is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court to face the following charges:
- Unlawfully at large contrary to section (145(1)(b)) of the criminal code
- Robbery, contrary to section (344) of the criminal code
- Assault, contrary to section (266) of the criminal code
- Breach of probation, contrary to section (733.1(1)(a)) of the criminal code
- Taking a motor vehicle without consent, contrary to section (335(1)) of the criminal code
- Theft Under $5000.00, contrary to section (334(b)) of the criminal code
- Breach of Probation, contrary to section (733.1(1)(a)) of the criminal code
