Halifax Regional Police have charged a man with stunting in Halifax.

Yesterday at approximately 7:30 p.m. West Division patrol officers responded to a citizen complaint of vehicles racing in the area of Evergreen Place, a dead-end street off Prospect Road in Halifax. It had been reported that motorists are gathering in the evening to participate in or observe vehicle stunts.

Officers found a large number of people and vehicles in the area, and observed a vehicle that was in the process of doing a “burn out” on the roadway.

A 48-year-old Cole Harbour man was ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act, a charge that is laid when a vehicle is performing a stunt on the roadway. In addition, the man was suspended from driving for one week and the vehicle was seized and towed. The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record. The man was also ticketed for operating a motor vehicle without valid insurance.

The driver of another vehicle, a 20-year-old man from Eastern Passage, was ticketed for operating a motor vehicle without valid insurance and operating an unregistered vehicle.
