Police have charged a man with weapons and drug trafficking offences in relation to a number of searches conducted yesterday in Dartmouth.
On May 13, investigators in the Drug Unit of the Integrated Special Enforcement Section obtained a warrant, and along with Quick Response Unit members and East Division patrol officers, searched an address on Galaxy Avenue and two rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott Halifax Dartmouth in relation to an ongoing investigation. Investigators seized a quantity of cocaine, cash, three loaded handguns and ammunition.
John David Marsh, 26, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charges of:
- Possession of a firearm contrary to a firearms prohibition (x 6)
- Unsafe storage of a firearm (x 3)
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace (x 3)
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x 3)
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized (x 3)
- Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition (x 3)
- Tampering with a serial number (x 1)
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine (x 1)
- Failure to comply with conditions (x 3)
A 20-year-old woman was released to appear in court at a later date to face drug charges.
