Police have charged two men for two robberies that occurred earlier this week in Halifax and Dartmouth.
At 11:38 p.m. on May 28 officers responded to a report of a robbery of a taxi driver in the 6000 block of Young Street in Halifax. A man got into the back seat of the taxi, threatened the driver with a knife, and demanded cash. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash to a waiting vehicle. The taxi driver was not injured during the incident.
At 2:00 a.m. on May 29 officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Irving gas station at 10 Highfield Park Dive in Dartmouth. A man entered the store and told the clerk he had a weapon and demanded cash. No weapon was seen. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries.
On May 30, at approximately 5:45 p.m. East Division members arrested a suspect at an address on Highfield Park Drive in Dartmouth without incident. On May 31 at approximately 3 a.m. members of the Emergency Response Team arrested a second suspect at a residence on Highfield Park Drive in Dartmouth.
Police have charged 28-year-old Ryan Mark MacDougall of Halifax and he is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of:
- Robbery contrary to section 344 of the Criminal Code (x2)
- Driving while prohibited contrary to section 320.18(1) of the criminal code
- Breach of undertaking contrary to section 145(5.1) of the criminal code
- Breach of undertaking contrary to section 144(3) of the criminal code
- Breach of probations contrary to section 733.1(1)a of the criminal code
Police have also charged 30-year-old Richard Perry MacIntyre of Halifax and he is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of:
- Robbery contrary to section 344 of the Criminal Code (x2)
- Possession of a weapon contrary to 88(1) of the Criminal Code
- Uttering Threats contrary to section 264.1(1)a of the criminal code
