The Halifax Regional Police Traffic Services Unit conducted Operation Christmas. Operation Christmas is a focussed approach on detecting Impaired Driving Offences in an effort to make community streets safer.

On December 4 just after 10:40 p.m., Halifax Regional Police in the area of Parkland Drive in Halifax stopped a man for suspicion of driving while impaired. Through the course of the investigation, he was arrested and later was charged with Impaired Operation of a Conveyance as well as having a blood alcohol content at or above 80 MGS. He was released and will appear in Halifax court on January 21, 2022.

On December 5 shortly after 3:10 a.m., Traffic Services Unit members stopped a vehicle in the area of the 200-300 block of the Bedford Highway. The driver was operating their vehicle at nearly double the speed limit. The driver displayed signs of impairment and was arrested. No charges have been laid at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
