Police investigate a weapons call GO#20-40335

On March 30 at 8:30 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of group of people arguing outside a building in the 5600 block of Bloomfield Street, Halifax. Patrol officers along with a Police Service Dog responded to the area and discovered bear spray was used inside a building and a man had a small laceration to his hand.

Officers located and arrested a 58-year-old suspect at the scene. Officers learned the suspect and victim were with a group of friends partying when a heated argument began and turned violent. The suspect and victim are known to one another. The injured man declined medical treatment.

Investigators with Patrol and the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation. The suspect is held for court and is facing the following charges; Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Assault With a Weapon, Failure to Comply Undertaking and Assault Causing Bodily Harm.
