Police investigate arson in Dartmouth GO#19-68046

At 3:47 a.m. on May 16, Halifax Regional Police and Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency responded to a structure fire inside an apartment building in the 30 block of Lakefront Road, Dartmouth. Multiple callers reported seeing smoke from the building. 

Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency attended and extinguished the fire at 4:25 a.m. Halifax Transit had a bus on site as a temporary shelter for 12 tenants, including adults and children, who had been evacuated.  No one was injured.

Fire Investigators confirmed the fire was intentionally set and an arson investigation has been turned over to police. The arson investigation is in early stages and is on-going. Police will remain on scene for the Forensic Identification Section to process the scene in daylight.
