Police Investigate collision involving stolen vehicle GO#20-43457

On April 8 at 1:40 a.m., Halifax Regional Police officers were travelling on Gottingen Street, Halifax and observed a blue Honda Civic travelling on North Street without lights on. As officers turned around, the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. Officers lost sight of the vehicle and located the vehicle after it had collided with a tree near Almon Street and Connolly Street. The driver fled on foot. 

Multiple officers and a Police Service Dog responded setting up containment and found the driver returning to the scene. The driver sustained minor non-life-threatening injuries in the collision. 

The driver, a 22-year-old man from Dartmouth is held for court and is facing the following Criminal Code charges; Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000; Reckless Driving; Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Breach of Probation.
