Police investigate and lay charges in a hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

Police are investigating a third party report to police where a vehicle was seen striking a pedestrian, knocking them to the ground and failing to remain on the scene of the collision.

At approximately 1:00 a.m., on March 27, 2022, police responded to the area of 1743 Grafton Street in Halifax and located a man in his twenties that was laying in the roadway after being struck by a vehicle that had failed to remain on scene, post collision. Witnesses to the event were able to relay to investigators the description of the vehicle and driver. This aided in officers being able to quickly locate the vehicle and driver after a search of the area was conducted.

The injuries to the man were not life threatening.

Several Motor Vehicle Act charges were issued to the driver of the vehicle including:

  • Failing to Immediately Stop at the Scene of an Accident.
  • Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign.
