Police investigate robbery & arrest suspect GO#20-37134

UPDATE: Through the course of the investigation the suspect believed to have the firearm was identified. On March 25, officers assigned to the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division arrested a 43-year-old man. He will be facing the following charges, Robbery contrary to section Sec 343(d) of the Criminal Code and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 (1) of the Criminal Code. The firearm was not recovered.
 
He will appear in Provincial Court in Dartmouth on March 26.

On March 21 at approximately 11:27 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a robbery at Needs Convenience Store located at 100 Highfield Park Drive, Dartmouth. Two men entered the store and directed the lone customer to lie on the floor. Then they approached the counter and directed the employee to fill a garbage bag with cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of money. One man had a firearm and the other man produced a knife. There were no injuries.

Suspect one is described to police as being heavy set, wearing gloves, a balaclava over his head and a dark jacket. This suspect brandished the firearm.

Suspect two is described to police as having a skinny build, wearing gloves, a balaclava over his head and white or light grey colored pants. This suspect brandished the knife.

Both suspects fled the store on foot and ran in a westerly direction. A police service dog was deployed. The suspects were not located but evidence related to the robbery was recovered.
