On June 7 at approximately 6 p.m., a woman was walking in the area of Waterside Terrace, Dartmouth when she was approached by a man armed with a knife. The man demanded that she give him her property, the suspect cut the victims hand with the edged weapon during the incident and then fled on foot.

Initial information from possible witnesses was that he may have escaped in a raft across Morris Lake. Halifax Regional Police assisted by the Halifax Regional Fire Service and their watercraft searched the lake area. Based on new information, police believe that the person the witnesses saw on the raft was not the suspect and he left the area in a vehicle. Police are still searching for the suspect.

The victim received serious but non-life-threatening injuries and is being treated at the hospital.

The suspect is described to police as a black man who is 5'5’’- 5'7’’ tall who was wearing red track pants and a black hooded sweater at the time of the incident.
