Police investigate stabbing

Members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating an assault with a weapon that occurred this morning in Halifax. 

At approximately 5:08 a.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing outside a residence on Fays Lane. A man had noticed a man not known to him reaching into his car. The car owner approached the man and the two got into a physical altercation, which resulted in the car owner receiving a stab wound to the leg. The suspect ran away on foot and was last seen heading north on Tower Road. Patrol officers as well as K9 patrolled the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The victim, a 39-year-old Halifax man, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and released a short time later.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’11 with scruffy facial hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing a beige ¾-length winter coat and carrying a full dark coloured backpack.  

This matter is in the early stages of the investigation. Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact police at 902-490-5016.
