UPDATE -- Police Investigate Vehicle Pedestrian Collision

On July 12, 2023 at 6:47 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a vehicle pedestrian collision at Gottingen and Uniacke Streets in Halifax. A child was crossing Gottingen Street in a crosswalk and was struck by a van travelling on Gottingen Street. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and has been transported to the hospital. The driver, a 35-year-old woman was not injured.

Update - Traffic has been reopened. The police are no longer on scene. Investigators with Patrol, the Accident Investigation Section and the Forensic Identification Section are conducting the investigation, which is in the early stages.  It is unknown if charges are pending.

Traffic Blocked: Traffic is blocked on Gottingen Street in both directions between Buddy Daye Street and Charles Street. Traffic will remain blocked for an extended period while investigators process the scene.
