Police investigating robbery in Dartmouth Go#19-146852

UPDATE: The youth arrested is actually 15-years-old and has been charged with one count of robbery.  The youth was released from police custody on a promise to appear in youth court at a later date and an undertaking.

At 6:47 p.m., police located and arrested a 17-year-old youth without incident at a residence on Prince Albert Road. The youth will remain in police custody and face a bail hearing tomorrow. He is charged with robbery, possession of a weapon dangerous and breach of court orders. 

Investigators are continuing to search for the property stolen from the business.

On October 13 at approximately 4:13 p.m., officers responded to a robbery at Jake’s Video located at 125 Portland Street, Dartmouth.

A man entered the store carrying what is believed to be a sensory irritant spray and threatened an employee. The suspect grabbed the cash register and fled the store. The suspect was last observed running along Maitland Street towards Parker Street.

The suspect is described to police as a white male, late teens to early twenties, wearing a white mask, black hooded sweater with white stripes, black track pants with white stripes and carrying a black book bag.

A 17-year-old youth associated to the incident was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.

Investigators are actively looking for the man suspect and remain at the scene with the forensic identification unit.

The employee received minor injuries during the struggling with the suspect while he was stealing the cash register.
