Halifax Regional Police Traffic Unit is focusing on distracted driving throughout the month of February, and yesterday officers issued 40 tickets for distracted driving, speeding and other motor vehicle-related offences.
Members from the Traffic Unit issued 40 summary offence tickets: three for using a cell phone while driving, one for careless and imprudent driving, 15 for speeding and 21 for other offences including no insurance, expired plates and invalid inspections.
In a continued effort to address traffic safety issues and educate citizens on the rules of the road, our officers focus on distracted driving and speed enforcement. We all have a role to play in keeping our roads safe. If you see someone driving dangerously, report it to police by calling 911.
