Police have charged a youth in relation to an assault on a Halifax Transit driver that occurred in Dartmouth last month.
On May 19 at approximately 3:30 p.m. officers responded to a report of a Halifax Transit driver who had been assaulted while the bus was stopped in the 100 block of Wyse Road. A group who had been causing a disturbance on the bus while it was stopped at the Halifax Transit bridge terminal was asked to leave the bus by Halifax Transit staff. Two youths, who were with the group, ran to the next stop and got back on the bus through the back door as other passengers were exiting. The youths assaulted the driver and then fled the area on foot. The driver was treated at the scene for his injuries by EHS.
A 16-year-old youth was charged on June 19 with one count of assault and will appear in youth court at a later date.
Investigators are continuing to attempt to identify the second suspect who is described as a Black female youth in her late teens wearing a black top and pink leggings.
