Halifax Regional Police has charged three people in relation to a shooting that occurred in Dartmouth yesterday.
On July 17 at approximately 5:40 a.m. officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Booth Street. Officers located a residence and a vehicle in the area that had been struck. There were no reported injuries.
Officers located the suspect vehicle near Bras Dor Lane in Dartmouth. Four people were arrested at the residence. One person was released later that day without charges.
Investigators conducted a search of the residence and the suspect’s vehicle and seized an automatic rifle, a shotgun, two handguns, ammunition, a quantity of cocaine and approximately $3,000.
Nakell Louis Grandy, 20, Joshua Mitchell Fairbairn, 19, and Lennard Antonio Melville, 19, are all scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court today to face charges of:
- Discharging a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner
- Unsafe storage of a firearm (x3)
- Storing a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations (x3)
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace (x3)
- Carrying a concealed firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm (x4)
- Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
- Possession of a firearm without a license (x4)
- Possession of a prohibited weapon knowing its possession was prohibited
- Possession of a firearm in a vehicle
- Possession of a restricted firearm with accessible ammunition (x3)
- Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime (x4)
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Production of a controlled substance
- Possession of cash obtained by crime
Grandy is also facing eight counts of possessing a firearm or ammunition contrary to a court order and two counts of breaching a probation order.
