Police lay charges in three robberies

Halifax Regional Police have charged two people in relation to a robbery that occurred in Dartmouth yesterday.

At approximately 1:20 p.m. officers responded to a robbery that had just occurred at the Home Depot at 40 Finnian Row in Dartmouth. Two suspects entered the store and stole merchandise. One of the suspects threatened staff with what was believed to be a firearm when staff approached. Both suspects fled the area on foot. The staff members were not physically injured. The suspects were arrested in the area a short time later and officers seized a replica firearm.

A 33-year-old-man is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court at a later date to face the following charges:

  • Robbery
  • Uttering Threats
  • Theft under $5000
  • Possession under $5000

A 15-year-old youth is scheduled to appear in youth court today to face the following charges:

  • Robbery
  • Use of imitation firearm in commission of an offense
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Uttering threats
  • Discharge of air gun with intent

The youth is also facing charges in relation to two other robberies that occurred in Dartmouth last month. The Irving on Highfield Park Drive on August 23 and the Needs Convenience Store on Prince Albert Road on August 31. The youth is facing the following charges in relation to those incidents:

  • Robbery (x2)
  • Carrying a concealed weapon (x2)
  • Use of imitation firearm in commission of an offense
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (x2)
  • Uttering threats (x2)
  • Mischief
