Police lay firearms and drug trafficking charges

Police have laid firearms and drug trafficking charges in relation to searches in Dartmouth yesterday.

At approximately 5:35 a.m. members of the Quick Response Unit assisted by the Emergency Response Team searched a residence on Leaman Drive in relation to a drug trafficking and firearms investigation. Investigators also searched a storage locker at a facility in Dartmouth related to the investigation.

Four people were arrested at the residence and investigators seized two firearms, a starter pistol, ammunition, a quantity of cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription pills and over $10,000 in cash.

Sandra Lee Blagdon, 45, Christa Denise Dauphinee, 50, Larry Lynn Borden, 62, and James Allan O’Toole, 39, are all scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Possession for the purposes of trafficking (x2)
  • Possession of a weapon obtained by a crime
  • Possession of a loaded firearm
  • Possession of a firearm without a license (x2)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x2)
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x2)
  • Storage of a firearm contrary to the regulations (x2)
  • Careless use of a firearm (x2)
  • Tampering with the serial number of a firearm

Dauphinee is also facing a charge of resisting arrest and failing to appear in relation to an outstanding warrant.
