Halifax Regional Police has charged two drivers for stunting this week.
At approximately 8:40 a.m. on October 30, a member of the Traffic Unit observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 118 in Dartmouth. The officer observed the vehicle’s speed at 152 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
At approximately 12:50 p.m. on October 31, a member of the Traffic Unit observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Magazine Hill in Dartmouth. The officer observed the vehicle’s speed at 143 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.
A 27-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman were ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act, a charge that is automatically laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record. In addition, the drivers were suspended for seven days and the vehicles they were driving were seized.
