Update: Police arrest arson suspect after receiving tips from the public
As an update to the release below, please be advised that at 5:45 p.m. on November 4, Halifax Regional Police arrested 52-year-old Kevin Tracey Shih of Dartmouth without incident in the 0-100 block of Lamont Terrace in Dartmouth. He was transported to HRP headquarters and held for court. He is scheduled to attend Halifax Provincial Court today to face numerous arson and mischief related charges.
Halifax Regional Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in this matter as it was because of the tips received, that the suspect was able to be identified and ultimately arrested.

Police release pictures of arson suspect
Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating a suspicious fire that occurred last Friday in Halifax.
At approximately 6 p.m. on October 27, staff at the Superstore located at 3601 Joseph Howe Drive were made aware of a small fire in a grocery isle inside the store. Halifax Fire and Emergency quickly extinguished the fire while the store was being evacuated. Fire officials determined it to be an arson.
Throughout the course of the investigation, police identified an individual who may be responsible for the fire. The suspect is described as a white man, late 40’s or early 50’s, with grey hair and a goatee. At the time of the incident he was wearing eyeglasses with thick rims, a blue puffy style waist length coat, jeans and a blue ball cap.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about this man or the incident to call police at 902-490-5016.
