Police ticketed three people for failing to follow the regulations of Health Protection Act in two separate incidents this weekend in Halifax.
On May 22 at approximately 2:15 p.m. police responded to a report that a small group of people were on Citadel Hill as part of an illegal gathering. Officers located the group who were not physically distanced and not wearing masks. Officers issued summary offence tickets to two people in the amount of $2,422 under section 71 (1) (b) of the Health Protection Act for failing to comply with the act and its regulations.
On May 24 at approximately 8 a.m. officers ticketed a person who had traveled to Nova Scotia by vehicle contrary to regulations set out in the Health Protection Act. The summary offence ticket, issued under section 71 (1) (b) of the Health Protection Act, has a fine amount of $2,422.
Halifax Regional Police reminds members of the public to follow all rules related to COVID-19 restrictions. These rules include a court injunction obtained on May 14, preventing groups from staging illegal gatherings in defiance of Nova Scotia’s public health orders.
