Nova Scotia RCMP, Halifax Regional Police and Cape Breton Regional Police are reminding citizens to ring in the new year responsibly.

With taxis in high demand on December 31 and January 1, police warn that it is especially important to plan your way home before heading to celebrations.

Police will be conducting random checkpoints across the province, but they are asking for your help to identify impaired drivers. Should you suspect a driver is impaired:

  • Pull over and call 911
  • State your location
  • Give a vehicle description, including license plate number and make, model and colour of the vehicle
  • State the direction in which the vehicle is travelling
  • Give a description of the driver, if possible
