The Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting residents to participate in public consultation opportunities as part Phase One of the 2022 District Boundary Review process

The District Boundary Review process will review the number of councillors and the boundaries for each polling district. The process will consist of two phases:

  • Phase 1, which will determine the size of Regional Council and its governance structure; and,
  • Phase 2, which will set specific district boundaries.

As part of Phase 1, the municipality is holding public consultation opportunities to determine the size of Regional Council and its governance structure. There are several ways residents can participate – and residents are invited to participate in more than one engagement opportunity.

  • Submit feedback through the online survey at halifax.ca/boundaryreview. The survey is available until Monday, April 25.
  • Join any of the below Community Council meetings. The meetings will take place on the below dates. Residents in any area are invited to attend any meeting. Note: Some meetings will be held virtually, while some will be held in-person. Residents can check the agenda for each meeting, once available, to confirm the format. Meeting agendas are typically posted the Friday prior to the meeting.
    • April 19: Halifax and West Community Council 6 p.m.
    • April 20: Harbour East - Marine Drive Community Council 6 p.m.
    • April 25: North West Community Council 6 p.m.
    • April 28: Regional Centre Community Council 6 p.m.
  • Provide correspondence by emailing the Office of the Municipal Clerk at clerks@halifax.ca or mailing to P.O Box 1749, Halifax NS, B3J 3A5.
  • Attend meetings of the Executive Standing Committee in April and May.

Feedback received from public consultations will be included in the final District Boundary Review recommendation, which will be provided to Regional Council later this Spring.
