The Halifax Regional Municipality continues to monitor and respond to the rapidly evolving effects of COVID-19.
As part of the Halifax Mobility Response Plan, the following changes will go into effect by end of business day on Wednesday, June 2 and will be in place until the end of September.
Bedford Row
Bedford Row, between the Founders Square parking garage and Prince Street, will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic to allow for additional patio space.
The area between the Founders Square parking garage and Sackville Street will be converted from one-way to two-way traffic. To accommodate this adjustment, the east side of Bedford Row will be converted to a No Stopping/Tow-away zone. The two parking spaces on the west side of Bedford Row will be converted into loading spaces and an additional loading space will be added on Prince Street, at the Bedford Row intersection. This is to support access to the parking garage and businesses in the area, which will be maintained at all times.
Cyclist access will not be permitted in this area, however, Bedford Row will remain fully open to pedestrians.
Grafton Street
Grafton Street, between Carmichael and Prince streets, will be temporarily converted into a one-way, southbound street also to allow for additional patio space.
Sidewalks will remain open on both sides of the road. Parking and loading spaces will not be impacted while this adjustment is in place.

La Municipalité régionale d’Halifax continue de surveiller les effets en évolution rapide de la COVID-19 et d’y répondre.
Dans le cadre du Plan de réponse d’Halifax pour la mobilité, les changements suivants entreront en vigueur en fin de journée le mercredi 2 juin et le resteront jusqu’à la fin de septembre.
Bedford Row
Bedford Row, entre le garage de stationnement de Founders Square et la rue Prince, sera temporairement fermé à la circulation automobile pour accorder plus d’espaces aux terrasses.
Le tronçon entre le garage de stationnement de Founders Square et la rue Sackville sera converti pour passer de la circulation à sens unique à la circulation dans les deux sens. Pour permettre cet ajustement, le côté est de Bedford Row sera converti en zone d’arrêt interdit et de remorquage. Les deux espaces de stationnements sur le côté ouest de Bedford Row seront convertis en espace de chargement et un espace de chargement supplémentaire sera ajouté sur la rue Prince et à l’intersection de Bedford Row. Cela assurera l’accès en tout temps au garage de stationnement et aux entreprises du secteur.
L’accès au cycliste sera interdit dans ce secteur, toutefois Bedford Row demeurera entièrement ouvert aux piétons.
Rue Grafton
La rue Grafton, entre les rues Carmichael et Prince, sera temporairement convertie en rue à sens unique en direction du sud pour également accorder plus d’espaces aux terrasses.
Les trottoirs demeureront ouverts des deux côtés de la rue. Les espaces de stationnement et de chargement ne seront pas touchés par cet ajustement.
