The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of the following road closures as a result of the 2022 ICF Sprint & Paracanoe World Championships (Canoe ’22) taking place on Lake Banook from August 3 to 7, 2022.
Henry Findlay Park, Lions Beach Park, and Grahams Grove will be closed from Thursday, July 14 to Tuesday, August 9.
The Nowlan Street parking lot will be closed from 12:05 a.m. on Thursday, July 14 and will reopen at 11:55 p.m. on Monday, August 8.
The Birch Cove Park parking lot will be closed from Thursday, July 28 to Tuesday, August 9, and Birch Cove Park will be closed from Monday, August 1 to Thursday, August 4.
Banook Avenue and Boathouse Lane will be closed to traffic from 6 a.m. on Saturday, July 30 and will reopen at 11:55 p.m. on Sunday, August 7. Local access will be maintained.
Prince Albert Road will be closed between Hawthorne Street and Sinclair Street from 12:05 a.m. on Monday, August 1 and will reopen at 11:55 p.m. on Sunday, August 7. Local access to Prince Albert Road, along with Bolton Terrace and Nowlan Street, will be maintained.
The multi-use path adjacent to Prince Albert Road will remain open during event hours but will be closed at night.
Residents living on impacted streets will also be receiving a direct mail piece from the event organizers outlining road closures.

La Municipalité régionale d’Halifax avise les résidents des fermetures de routes suivantes en raison des Championnats du monde de canoë-kayak sprint et de paracanoë 2022 de la FIC qui se dérouleront sur le lac Banook du 3 au 7 août 2022.
Henry Findlay Park, Lions Beach Park et Grahams Grove seront fermés du jeudi 14 juillet au mardi 9 août.
Le stationnement de la rue Nowlan sera fermé à partir de 24 h 5 le jeudi 14 juillet et rouvrira à 23 h 55 le lundi 8 août.
Le stationnement du Birch Cove Park sera fermé du jeudi 28 juillet au mardi 9 août, et le Birch Cove Park sera fermé du lundi 1er août au jeudi 4 août.
L’avenue Banook et la voie Boathouse seront fermées à la circulation à partir de 6 h le samedi 30 juillet et rouvriront à 23 h 55 le dimanche 7 août. L’accès à la circulation locale sera maintenu.
Le chemin Prince Albert sera fermé entre les rues Hawthorne et Sinclair à partir de 24 h 5 le lundi 1er août et rouvrira à 23 h 55 le dimanche 7 août. L’accès local au chemin Prince Albert, ainsi qu’à Bolton Terrace et à la rue Nowlan, sera maintenu.
Le sentier polyvalent adjacent au chemin Prince Albert demeurera ouvert pendant les heures d’ouverture, mais sera fermé la nuit.
Les résidents des rues touchées recevront également un courrier direct des organisateurs de l’événement décrivant les fermetures de routes.
