At approximately 11:40 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a robbery in the 0-100 block of Maplehurst Drive in Dartmouth.
A 40-year-old man from Dartmouth had an arranged meeting with a female acquaintance. As he was exiting his vehicle, he was approached by a man wearing a bandana over his face. This man struck the victim in the head with a board and demanded money. After the victim gave him the money the man struck the victim, again with the board, before fleeing the area. Witnesses contacted HRP and provided a description of the suspect.
Patrol members responding to the call, located a man that matched the description in the area of Newcastle Street and Old Ferry Road. Officers located evidence connecting him to the robbery and as a result, a 21-year-old man from Boutilier’s Point will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on January 4 to face charges of robbery and assault with a weapon.
The victim was taken to hospital by EHS paramedics for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
