Update:  Halifax Regional Police have made an arrest and laid charges in relation to two recent incidents of cash registers being stolen from Halifax convenience stores.

At approximately 5:50 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, a man entered Daily Sweets at 2860 Oxford Street, grabbed the cash register from the counter and fled the store. A similar incident occurred at about 8:15 p.m. on December 22 at Jubilee Junction Convenience, 6273 Jubilee Road. Nobody was injured during either incident. 

On Saturday, December 23, members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, assisted by HRP Patrol members, made an arrest and executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Victoria Road, Dartmouth. The 32-year-old man arrested at the residence was released yesterday evening, scheduled to appear in court at a later date charged with theft in relation to each incident.

At 8:26 p.m. on December 22, a male walked into Jubilee Food Shop, 6273 Jubilee Road, removed the cash register from the counter and fled the store. He was observed throwing the register in the rear seat of a black Jeep YJ soft top (spare tire on the back) being driven by another male, and then driving towards Quinpool Road. The suspect who stole the cash register was described as white male, 25-30 years of age, 6’3”, 280 lbs, wearing a green camouflage jacket, grey sweat pants, gloves and sneakers. The driver was a white male, possibly mid-twenties, wearing a white coat. No injuries occurred during the robbery. The file is still under investigation by GIS (General Investigative Section).
